The Purchase of a Cow

Kamukamu provided funds for the community of Bufumira Primary School to purchase a cow in 2013. The cow provides hands on learning experience and has improved the nutrition of students. A calf was born late the summer of 2014!  Another calf was born in late 2015!  And we have just received word that the original cow is once again pregnant.

According to the report from Bufumira Primary school:

• The cow produced a male calf and every day we milk 4 litres that we mix in pupils’ porridge.

• The diet has been improved since the school mix milk in pupil’s porridge.

• Children are equipped with practical skills in how to look after cattle, by milking, cutting feeds, cleaning the grazing area and providing water to cattle.
