COVID-19 Staff Aid

On July 7, 2021 another strict lockdown was put in place by the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni. This lockdown included the closure of all schools and in-person learning opportunities. The schools Kamukamu supports are in low-income, rural areas that do not have access to resources that facilitate distance learning. As a result, the teachers have had to turn to street hawking, farming, fishing and other odd jobs to financially support their families.  In an effort to support our partner schools and their staff members, Kamukamu is providing a direct financial assistance of $50 (170,000 UG shillings) to every teacher and staff member (a total of 41) of Mugomba Primary School, Nakalanda Primary School, and Bufumira Primary School. This money is for direct assistance during the lockdown to be used for each staff member’s personal needs.

We have to think our loyal supporters who have continued to generously donate to Kamukamu throughout this pandemic. This work would not have been possible without you.

The Headmaster of Mugomba Primary School thanks Kamukamu.

A teacher thanks Kamukamu for the financial assistance.
